Vincent Ho
MBBS, Bsc(Med), MMed (Clin Epi), MClinEd, FRACP, FACP, PhD
Associate Professor Vincent Ho is a gastroenterologist at Campbelltown Public and Campbelltown Private Hospitals and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University. Vincent leads a Translational Gastroenterology Research program at the School of Medicine focusing on basic science and clinical research in the gut. He has several international collaborations in gastroenterology research, supervises multiple higher degree students and has been successful in competitive research grant funding. Vincent has strong clinical interests in luminal gastroenterology conditions such as coeliac disease, reflux and eosinophilic oesophagitis, hepatology conditions such as metabolic associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), and obesity.
Vincent has a strong passion in education of the science of the gut to health discipline audiences as well as the general public. He has written extensively for The Conversation (over 9.7 million views) and is interviewed regularly on radio, television and newspapers.
Vincent has had a long interest in clinical trials starting off with his work with nutritional products and gastrointestinal medical devices through Western Sydney University. His clinical research with novel medical devices at Western Sydney University has proven critical to FDA and TGA approval.
At Campbelltown Hospital Vincent leads the Gastroenterology Clinical Trials Unit which is a specialised phase 1 unit, and he has carried out multiple Phase 1 to 3 trials as Principal Investigator. This has benefited multiple participants, and Vincent has strong and established links with several industry partners.
There is very strong demand from industry partners for quality clinical trials work to be done in an efficient manner. Some trials require very specialised skills and require a particular population catchment that can be difficult to capture through the usual university or public health system processes including databases. Vincent has a unique private database of patients for a range of specialised gastroenterology and general medical conditions. He established Sydney Clinical Trials to enable his patients to access clinical trials as an integral part of clinical service provision for improved patient outcomes.
